Among proponents of sustainable agriculture, ecological farming or eco farming is regarded as the ultimate goal. Ecological farming is not the same as organic farming, but there are many similarities and they are not necessarily incompatible. Ecological farming encompasses all methods, including organic, that regenerate ecosystem services such as soil erosion prevention, water infiltration and retention, carbon sequestration in the form of humus, and increased biodiversity.
