Railway Recruitment Board (RRB) will be conducting the recruitment exam for different posts. A total of around 35,208 vacancies in Non-Technical Popular Categories (NTPC) in various Zonal Railways is available.The exam dates will soon be released within the month of August - September 2020. The exam will be conducted in 15 languages. The notification was released in 2019 and the exam was scheduled between June and September. However, the process was delayed due to the non-finalisation of the exam conducting agency.

Quite recently, the conducting authority has made a big announcement regarding the RRB NTPC exam. Railways in an official notice had informed that it is going to expedite the recruitment process as the situation eases out.

RRB NTPC 2020: Eligibility Criteria

The eligibility criteria of RRB NTPC includes age, upper age limit, educational qualification(s) and medical standards. However, the terms of age and educational qualification is essential to be considered primarily. The details of the eligibility are given below as per the terms of the official notification:

RRB NTPC Age Limit and Relaxation

For 7th CPC Level-2 and 3 (Under Graduate Level Posts), the age limit of candidates should be as follows (as on 1st July 2019):

RRB NTPC Application Procedure

RRB NTPC 2020: Application Procedure

As per the RRB NTPC Notification, a total of 35277 vacancies have been announced for the Non-Technical Popular Categories. Candidates started filling the RRB NTPC application form from 1st March 2019. The last date for final submission of RRB NTPC Apply Online was March 31st, 2019 and the dates for the exam were scheduled from June to September 2019.

RRB NTPC 2020: How to Apply

Candidates willing to fill RRB NTPC online form for next recruitment have to follow the given steps to successfully complete the RRB NTPC Registration. Here is the step to complete the RRB NTPC Registration:

  1. Go to any of the zonal RRB websites that you wish to apply.
  2. Now click on the link labelled ‘New Registration’.
  3. Choose the RRB Zone for which you want to apply.
  4. Now, you must enter your qualification details, the community you belong to. After filling up the details click on the ‘Check Availability’ button.
  5. Next fill up the registration form by filling up details like Name, Date of Birth, Aadhar Card Status, Father’s Name, Mother’s Name, Class 10th Details, Mobile no. , Email ID and click on the ‘Continue’ button.
  6. After filling up the details, a box will appear which consists of all the details filled by you. Click on the ‘I have verified and confirmed that all the details furnished by me are correct’ box or if you wish to change or review the details then tick on the ‘red box’.
  7. Once the registration process is completed, candidates will receive an OTP on their registered email id and mobile no to generate the registration number.
  8. Login using the registration number you have received along with your date of birth and enter the captcha (if any).
  9. Now, fill up the first part of the application form by entering up the details like marks obtained in class 12th, community, gender, nationality, religion, if you are you an Ex-Servicemen, or a PwBD category candidate, the domicile of J&K, a govt employee etc. and click on the “Save” button.
  10. Select the model of the payment by which you wish to apply. Enter your bank details or take a print out of the post office challan to do the fee payment after 2 days.
  11. Upload your photograph in the dimensions specified for the JPEG format, a signature is done in blank ink on any white surface and category certificate as per specified.
  12. Candidates will also be given the facility to appoint a scribe if required.
  13. Submit your application form and keep a print of the same for any future reference.

RRB NTPC 2020: Admit Card

The Admit Card for the first stage CBT will tentatively be released in August 2020, one week before the exam dates. After the official releasing of the Admit cards, candidates should follow the instructions mentioned below to download the Admit Card:

  • Visit the official websites of respective RRBs
  • Click the admit card download link on the home page
  • Candidates need to enter the user ID (registration number) and password (date of birth)
  • The admit card will appear on the screen
  • Download the admit card
  • then take a few printouts for future reference.

Details on RRB NTPC 2020 Admit Card

RRB NTPC Admit card will have two parts: One is candidates' copy and the other one is RRB copy. Candidates are advised to keep their copy of admit card till the recruitment process is over. RRB NTPC 2020: Exam Pattern

The recruitment process shall involve several stages:

  • 1st Stage Computer Based Test (CBT)
  • 2nd Stage Computer Based Test (CBT)
  • Typing Skill Test/Computer Based Aptitude Test (as applicable)
  • Medical Examination.
  • Document Verification

RRB NTPC Exam Pattern: 1st Stage CBT

  • The 1st Stage CBT is conducted for screening the aspirants.
  • The standard of questions for the CBT will be generally in conformity with the educational standards prescribed for the posts.
  • There will be a negative marking of 0.25 Marks for every question, attempted wrong.
  • No marks will be deducted if a question is left unanswered.
  • The exam duration for PWD candidates is 120 Minutes.

  • The 1st Stage CBT is of screening nature and the standard of questions for the CBT will be generally in conformity with the educational standards prescribed for the posts.
  • The normalized score of 1st Stage CBT shall be used for shortlisting of candidates for 2nd Stage CBT as per their merit.
  • Minimum percentage of marks for eligibility in various categories: UR-40%, EWS40%, OBC (Non creamy layer) -30%, SC-30%, ST-25%.
  • These percentages of marks for eligibility may be relaxed by 2% for PwBD candidates in case of shortage of PwBD candidates against vacancies reserved for them.

RRB NTPC Exam Pattern: 2nd Stage CBT

  • There will be 120 questions making a total of 120 marks.
  • The time will not be divided sections-wise.
  • 1/3 of the marks assigned to each question will be deducted for every wrong answer, as negative marking.
  • Normalization of marks will be done.
  • The difficulty of the question level will vary depending on the different level of posts.

RRB NTPC Exam Pattern 2020: CBAT

  • Qualifying marks: The candidates need to secure a minimum T-Score of 42 marks in each of the test batteries to qualify.
  • This is applicable to all candidates irrespective of community or category and no relaxation in the minimum T- Score is permissible.
  • Candidates will have to qualify in each of the test batteries of CBAT for considering them for the post of SM/TA.
  • The CBAT shall have questions and answer options only in English and Hindi.
  • There shall be no negative marking in CBAT.
  • Merit list will be drawn only from amongst the candidates qualifying in the CBAT, with 70% weightage for the marks obtained in the 2nd Stage CBT and 30% weightage for the marks obtained in CBAT.

RRB NTPC Exam Pattern 2020: Typing skill test

  • Qualifying in nature.
  • Eight times the number of vacancies will be called for the typing test.
  • The candidates should be able to type 30 words per minute (WPM) in English or 25 WPM in Hindi on Personal Computer only without editing tools and spell check facility.

The Vacancies for RRB NTPC Exam 2020 have been revised to 35,208, deducting the number of DLW vacancies from RRB Allahabad zone. The DLW vacancies under RRB ALLAHABAD have been cancelled. Hence, the overall vacancies for RRB Allahabad have been decreased from 4099 to 4030.

The candidates have to qualify the first stage which is the screening procedure in order to be selected for second stage. Approximately, candidates in the number of 8 times the available vacancy will be called for the typing test once they qualify stage 2. Apart from qualifying the typing test, they will also be subjected to medical tests which are going to be final determinants of their selection.

RRB NTPC 2020: Document Verification

Candidates equal to the number of vacancies will be called for Document Verification. Candidates will be called for this stage of RRB NTPC Recruitment under few circumstances such as:

  • Based on the performance of candidates in CBT II and based on the performance of candidates in both 2nd Stage CBT and CBT/TEST (as applicable),
  • candidates equal to 50% (may increase or decrease at the sole discretion of RRBs) of the number of vacancies for various posts.
