RRB NTPC Result will be announced online by Railway Recruitment Board (RRB) on the official websites. The result will be in PDF format in the form of a merit list. Once the result is released, candidates will be able to download the result by entering the registration number and password.

How to Check RRB NTPC Result

The RRB NTPC Result was announced after 15 days of the exam on the official website. Check out the steps to download the RRB NTPC Result PDF. 

  1. Visit the official websites of RRB.
  2. Click on the RRB NTPC Result link on the home page.
  3. The result will be available in PDF format.
  4. Press Ctrl+F.and fill in the user ID/registration number and date of birth to look for the result. 
  5. Take a hardcopy of the result for future reference.

Process to Calculate Result

Process of Calculating Scores of RRB NTPC Result

The date of the RRB NTPC Result can be estimated in February – March of 2021. Before declaring the result, RRB publishes the RRB NTPC Answer Key after 10-15 days of the examination.

Applicants can estimate the marks by referring to the answer key. To calculate the RRB NTPC marks, follow the below-mentioned steps -

  1. One mark will be awarded to the candidates for each correct answer.
  2. A penalty of 0.25 (¼) marks as negative marking for each incorrect answer. 
  3. The absolute score of RRB NTPC will be determined based on the correct answers after the deduction of the penalty of an incorrect answer.

RRB NTPC Result: Normalisation of Marks

Railway Recruitment Board completes normalization of marks for determining applicants’ scores since the exam is contained in various shifts and days having multiple difficulty levels of the questions.

Here is the formula and how to calculate the normalized marks for RRB exams in the following points-

Xn= (S2/S1) (X-Xav) + Yav

Where,

  • Xn= Normalized Score of an Applicant
  • S2= Standard Variation of raw marks of Base Session
  • S1= Standard Variation of raw marks of Applicant Session
  • X= Raw marks of the applicant which is to be normalized
  • Xav= Average of raw marks of Applicant Session
  • Yav= Average of raw marks of Base Session
NTPC Result Status

Stages of RRB NTPC Result

As the declaration of the result for each stage of the exam in the following points as there are stages to qualify in the RRB NTPC, namely-

  1. CBT 1
  2. CBT 2
  3. CBAT/Typing Skills, and
  4. Document Verification/ Medical Exam.

RRB NTPC Result for CBT 1

  • It is qualifying in nature. 
  • The exam will be of a total of 100 marks.
  • The normalized score of CBT 1 will be used to shortlist candidates for CBT 2 as per their merit.

RRB NTPC Result for CBT 2

  •  Candidates 20 times the total number of category-wise vacancies are selected for the CBT 2 Stage of the exam based on the performance in the CBT 1.
  • Candidates who will meet the cutoff marks of CBT 2, will be shortlisted for the Computer-based Aptitude Test (CBAT)/ Typing Skill Test (As per the posts).

RRB NTPC Result for CBAT

  • Applicants 8 times the total number of vacancies for each categories, i.e., UR, OBC-NCL, SC, ST, and EWS (including ExSM) will be shortlisted for Computer Based Aptitude Test (CBAT) based on the marks scored in CBT 2.
  • Applicants need to achieve a minimum score of 42 marks in each test series to pass.
  • The minimum qualifying marks are applicable irrespective of the applicant’s category (ST /SC/ OBC-NCL/ EWS/ PWBD/ Ex-Servicemen).
  • The merit list of Station Master/ Traffic Assistant is extracted from amidst the candidates passing the CBAT by giving 30% weightage in CBAT and 70% weightage to CBT 2 stage of the exam.

RRB NTPC Result for Typing Skill Test

  • The Typing Skill Test will be carried for the candidates who have practiced for the posts, namely- Accounts Clerk cum Typist, Senior Time Keeper, and Junior Time Keeper, etc.
  • Typing Skill Test is qualifying in nature.
  • Applicants 8 times the total number of vacancies will be called for Typing Skill Test based on the performance in CBT 2 stage.
RRB NTPC Tie-Breaking Policy

Tie-Breaking Policy of RRB NTPC Result

  1. In the occurrence of two or more aspirants, obtain the same marks, the merit is prepared based on the age criteria, older aspirants are set at higher merit.
  2. If the candidates’ age is the same, then the alphabetic order (A to Z) of the name is used into account to break the tie.

Is there any normalisation of marks in RRB NTPC exam?

Hi Arushi. Yes, normalization of marks will be done in RRB NTPC exam. The normalized score of 1st Stage CBT will be used while shortlisting candidates for 2nd Stage CBT as per their merit. Get more details related to the same here.

Is there any normalisation of marks in RRB NTPC exam?

Hi Rashmi. RRBs have now revised the normalisation process of RRB NTPC. As per the revised formula, the marks will be calculated based on the average marks of top one percent of candidates considering all shifts. Marks of candidates will be normalised for all the stages of exam involving multiple sessions.

How the merit will be drawn for the post of ASM & Traffic Assistant?

Hi Sameer. The merit will be drawn only for the candidates who are shortlisted in the Aptitude Test, with computation of 70% weightage being given to the marks obtained in 2nd Stage CBT. While the remaining 30% weightage will be given to the marks obtained in Aptitude Test.
