UGC NET 2021 Notification: Application, Eligibility, Exam Pattern, Syllabus, Admit Card & Result

University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET) is conducted to select the aspirants for Assistant Professor or for both Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) and Assistant Professor in the Colleges and Universities in India. UGC NET is conducted to determine candidates’ eligibility for Junior Research Fellowship and Assistant Professorship. The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) conducted the NET exam till June 2018, on the behalf of the UGC. After that, from December 2018, the National Testing Agency (NTA) had started to organize the UGC NET exam.

UGC NET 2021 Eligibility Criteria

The Candidates have to fulfil certain eligibility conditions laid down by NTA. UGC NET Eligibility is based on the academic qualification and age limit as described below:

UGC NET 2021 Educational Qualification Requirement

  • Candidates must have scored at least 55% marks (50% for reserved categories) in their Post Graduation or equivalent from any recognized university.
  • Final year students are also eligible to appear in the exam. However, they will be considered for award of JRF or professorship after they pass their qualifying exam with minimum marks.
  • Ph.D. degree holders whose post-graduation exam was completed before September 19, 1991 (irrespective of the date of declaration of result) are provided an additional relaxation of 5% in minimum marks requirement.

UGC NET 2021 Age Limit

  • Assistant Professorship: There is no age limit for UGC NET Assistant Professorship.
  • Junior Research Fellowship: The upper age limit is 30 years as on June 1, 2021.
  • However, age relaxation is provided to reserved category candidates as per the government of India norms.

Candidates will need to fill the UGC NET 2021 Application Form in online mode only at the official website.  Apply Now

Step 1: UGC NET Registration 2021

  • Visit the official website and click on Apply online to fill the registration page.
  • Enter your personal details, email ID, and mobile number.

Step 2: Filling UGC NET Application Form 2021

  • Post-registration, a system generated application number will be sent on the email Id and mobile number.
  • Login again and select your subject, position, and preferred exam center.

Step 3: Uploading Scanned Images

Step 4: Pay UGC NET Application Fee

  • Make application fee payment either through debit card/ credit card/ net banking or Paytm
  • Final step is to download the copies of filled-in application form and e-receipt of fee payment for further reference.​

Candidates have to download UGC NET 2021 Admit Card only from the official website by logging in with their registration number and date of birth. UGC NET 2021 Admit Card will specify the candidate’s name, roll number, category, photograph, signature, allotted exam date, time, and center.

Steps to Download UGC NET 2021 Hall Ticket

  1. Visit the official website.
  2. Click on the link “Click Here for Login for Admit Card”.
  3. Login with “Application Number” & “Password”.
  4. The admit card will be displayed on the screen.
  5. Download it and take a printout for further reference.

UGC NET 2021 Exam Centers

  • UGC NET Exam will be conducted in 224 cities this June. 
  • Candidates have to indicate 4 exam cities in order of their preference while filling UGC NET 2021 Application Form
  • NTA will try to allot the most preferred exam center to the candidate.
  • However, it reserves the right to allot any exam center other than the ones selected by the candidates.
  • Also, it can add or cancel exams in any city if the number of applicants for that city is negligible.
  • A city may have more than 1 exam center. The address of the allotted exam center will be mentioned on UGC NET admit card.
  • Candidates have to carry their admit card, one passport size photo, and an original photo ID proof with its photocopy.

UGC NET Exam is a computer-based test having multiple-choice questions. The exam has two papers – Paper 1 and Paper 2.​

The Exam Pattern for Paper 1 and Paper 2 is tabulated below:

UGC NET 2021 Syllabus 

NTA has updated UGC NET Syllabus 2021 for Paper 1 and all NET subjects under Paper 2. UGC NET Paper 1 Syllabus tests teaching and reasoning ability, research aptitude, comprehension, divergent thinking, and general awareness of the candidate. UGC NET Paper 2 Syllabus is based on the subject chosen by the candidate. It tests the candidate’s in-depth knowledge and expertise in the respective subject. NTA UGC NET is conducted for a total of 81 subjects.

UGC NET 2021 Answer Keys

UGC NET 2021 Answer Key

NTA will release UGC NET Answer Keys along with candidates’ response sheets and question papers for both Paper 1 and Paper 2 at the official website.

  • Candidates can match their recorded responses and the answer keys and estimate their scores.
  • Candidates will be able to raise objections online by paying a fee of INR 1000 per question.
  • The fees are refundable if the objections are approved by the agency.

Candidates can download the result from the official website by logging in with their registration number and date of birth. It is declared in the form of a scorecard containing marks obtained in both papers for JRF and LS.

Step 1: Go to the official website of UGC NET.

Step 2: Click on UGC NET 2021 Result on the menu bar.

Step 3: Enter your roll number or date of birth, and Application Number

Step 4: The UGC NET Result 2021 will be displayed on the screen.

Hi. Yes, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) conducted the NET exam till June 2018, on the behalf of the UGC. But after that, from December 2018 onwards, the National Testing Agency (NTA) started taking the UGC NET exam to recruit eligible candidates for Assistant Professor and other.

UGC-NET is held two times each year. However in 2020 amid the pandemic, the June 2020 examination got delayed and was deferred to September 2020 until November 2020 to cover all the subjects. Hi koyena. Candidates who qualified in UGC NET is equal to six percent of the candidates who appeared in both papers of the exam. To be considered for the award of JRF and/or eligibility for Assistant Professor, candidates must obtain the minimum marks 40% (for general category) to get considered further.
