SSC CGL Assistant Audit Officer is a Group B post in the Indian Audit & Accounts Department under C&AG. This is the only gazetted post to be filled via SSC CGL. The SSC CGL salary range for this post is INR 47,600 to 1,51,100. The role of Assistant Audit Office is to assist senior Audit officers in conducting audits and inspections, making sectional decisions, and preparing reports.

SSC CGL AAO Training and Job Profile

Assistant Audit Officer is very popular even though it is an entry-level Officer post. It has the highest basic salary amongst all the SSC CGL posts.

• Initially, the recruitees have to undergo a training of about 2-3 months after which they are posted across the country.
• The responsibilities of an AAO include assisting the Audit Officer or the Senior Audit Officer.
• They have to assist in the conduction of various departmental audits of Government organizations and Public Sector Companies.
• They will also need to make decisions on a sectional level and report the same to the higher authorities.

SSC CGL AAO Selection Process

SSC CGL selection process has 2 tiers. The details of each of these tiers in respect to AAO are given below.

• Tier 1 exam is for all the candidates applying for SSC CGL.
• In the Tier 2 exam, those who have applied for AAO posts have to appear for Paper I and Paper III.
• Paper I is divided into three sections which further consist of two modules each. The details of the same are given below.

  • Section 1: Mathematical Abilities (Module 1) and Reasoning and General Intelligence (Module 2).

  • Section 2: English Language and Comprehension (Module 1) and General Awareness (Module 2).

  • Section 3: Computer Knowledge Test (Module 1) and Data Entry Speed Test (Module 2).

• Paper III consists of questions from General studies and is only for the post of AAO.
• The qualifying candidates will undergo document verification and medical examination before they are finally selected.
• The candidates clearing all the stages of selection process will be under probation
• During the period of probation, they will have to take and clear the ‘Subordinate Audit/ Accounts Service Examination’ in their respective branches.
