  • Innovative technology has five key characteristics, including Relative Advantage, Compatibility, Complexity, Trialability, and Observability.
  • Relative Advantage means that the individual adopting the innovation believes it to be superior to the alternatives. It could be a tool that peels potatoes more quickly to save time or a seat belt that provides the benefit of increased safety.
  • The innovation's lifestyle compatibility with the adopter is referred to as compatibility.
  • Innovation's complexity determines how simple or complex it is to comprehend. Innovation is more likely to be embraced if it is simple to comprehend and utilise.
  • Trialability is the process of evaluating an innovation's viability or trialability. Before an innovation is adopted or introduced to the market, extensive testing typically takes place.
  • Observability refers to the ability to watch a product or behavior in action. It can serve as an example of its application.
    • An expensive product like a car may be observed by potential users more easily than it can be forced upon them to take a test drive.
    • Additionally, the more individuals you see utilising a product around you, the more inclined you are to want to purchase it yourself.
