Nusrat Shah Sultan succeeded his father, Alauddin Husain Shah, in 1519 CE and took the title Sultan Nasiruddin Nusrat Shah. During his father's lifetime, he was involved with the administration and was given the authority to issue coins in his own name by his father. He continued his father's expansionist policies but had to contend himself with the Mughal ascendancy in the Battle of Ghaghra in 1529. The reigns of Alauddin Husain Shah and Nasrat Shah are widely regarded as the "golden age" of the Bengal Sultanate.   • Following Babur's invasion of India, Mahmud Lodi and his Afghan allies fled to Bengal.
