Ala-ud-din Husain Shah (1494–1519) founded the Hussain Shahi dynasty. He was the son of Ashraf Husaini, a resident of Tirmiz in Turkistan. After assassinating Shams-ud-Din Muzaffar Shah, the Abyssinian Sultan under whom he had served as wazir, he became the ruler of Bengal.
