Aldrovanda also referred to as the waterwheel plant is an insectivores plant. It is the only surviving species in the flowering plant genus of the family Droseraceae. This plant uses traps to catch small aquatic creatures. The traps are organized in whorls around a stem that is in the center and free to float. This is one of the few plant species with the ability to move rapidly. The only species of Aldrovanda, a rootless, free-floating aquatic plant, is found in the salt marshes of the Sunderbans, south of Calcutta. It can also grow in bodies of fresh water like lakes, tanks, and ponds.
