Malik Mubarak Qaranful, adopted son of Malik Sarwar, ascended to the throne in 1399. He adopted the name of Sultan Mubarak Shah after succeeding to the throne. Malik Sarwar's nobles backed him up. He issued coins in his own name after seizing power in 1399, and the Khutba was read in his name. Mallu Iqbal attempted but failed to reclaim Jaunpur during his reign. After his death in 1402, he was replaced by his younger brother Ibrahim, who acquired the title of Shams-ud-Din Ibrahim Shah.   • According to Jaunpur Nama, Malik Sarwar bestowed the title of Malik-ush Sharq to Mubarak Shah during his lifetime and placed him in charge of the central government's affairs.
  • He was also dispatched against the monarch of Bengal.
  • When Mahmud Tughluq fled to Gujarat in the face of Timur's push into Delhi, Mallu Iqbal beat his competitors, particularly Nusrat Shah Tughluq, and took control of Delhi.
  • Mallu Iqbal stormed Jaunpur as soon as he learned of Malik Sarwar's death and the accession of his adopted son Mubarak Shah to power.
  • In 1400, Mallu Iqbal, the usurper of the Delhi throne, enlisted the help of Shams Khan, the muqta or governor of Bayana, as well as Mubarak Khan and Bahadur Nahar of Mewat, and set out to take Jaunpur with them.
  • When they reached the banks of the Ab-i Siyah or Kali Nadi river near Patiala, the zamindars of that province, led by Rai Sir, who were loyal to Sultan Mubarak Shah, opposed them, and a terrible battle ensued, in which the Mubarak Shah Sharqi's supporters were routed and chased up to Etawah.
  • Mallu Iqbal marched to Qannauj, where he camped on the Ganges' banks.
  • Sultan Mubarak Sharqi, on the other hand, marched with a big army of Rajputs, Afghans, Mughuls, and Tajiks and reached the opposite side of Mallu Iqbal's camp.
  • Both armies remained face to face for two months.
  • They eventually withdrew to their own capitals without engaging in any armed action. This was the Delhi Sultan's first invasion of Jaunpur.
  • When Amir Timur left India and Mahmud Tughluq came from his sanctuary in Gujarat and Malwa to Delhi, Nizam-ud Din, Farishta, and Khairuddin Muhammad spoke of a second invasion of Jaunpur by Mahmud Tughluq and Mallu Iqbal.
  • Sultan Mubarak Sharqi led his army out to confront the enemy, but he is claimed to have perished on route to the enemy camp.
  • He was in power for around three years.
  • He is said to have produced coins in his name, but none have been discovered so far.
