Deposition of material eroded from coastal areas is aided by waves and currents and deposition of the transported material is aided by oceanic currents. The material is selectively deposited along the coast. As the larger particles are deposited first, they are found closest to the coast. The finest particles, on the other hand, are deposited last and are often deposited farther from the coast. Sea waves and currents also create a few depositional landforms such as beach, bar, barrier, spit and hook, and tombolo which are discussed in detail in this article.
