From tidal pools along the shoreline to the continental shelf and then down to the abyssal depths, this group dwells in or near marine or freshwater sedimentary settings.   • Aquatic animals that live in the substrate of a body of water, especially soft sediments, are known as infaunal.
  • In other terms, infauna are creatures that live buried beneath the ocean's surface.
