Covalent multinuclear bonds are found in the solid state structures of :
MeLi
A multinuclear (multicentre) bond is one in which a single electron pair is shared over more than two atoms. Such bonding appears when a molecule is electron deficient — it has fewer valence electrons than are needed to form ordinary two-centre two-electron bonds to all its neighbours.
MeLi is the answer. In the solid it does not exist as discrete Li-CH3 units but as a tetramer, (MeLi)4, built on a Li4 tetrahedron with a methyl group capping each face. Each methyl carbon is bonded simultaneously to three lithium atoms, so the bonding electrons are spread over four centres in a four-centre two-electron arrangement. Lithium simply does not have enough valence electrons to bond each methyl conventionally, so it compensates by aggregating — which is also why methyllithium is soluble in hydrocarbons and ethers rather than being a salt.
HgMe2 is a simple linear, monomeric molecule with two ordinary two-centre Hg-C bonds. Mercury(II) is electron rich enough not to aggregate.
WMe6 is a discrete molecular hexamethyl complex, notable for its distorted trigonal-prismatic rather than octahedral geometry, but its W-C bonds are conventional two-centre bonds.
PbMe4 is a tetrahedral molecule with four normal Pb-C single bonds — the same bonding pattern as neopentane, and the reason it was volatile enough to be used as a petrol additive.
Hence covalent multinuclear bonding is found in MeLi.
