According to Robbins, communication performs four major functions within a group or organisation, and the task is to pick exactly those four.

These four functions are control (guiding and regulating behaviour, for example through rules and hierarchy), emotional expression (letting members share feelings and fulfil social needs), information (providing the data needed to make decisions), and motivation (clarifying what is to be done and how well, and encouraging effort).

Co-ordination and 'organisation' are outcomes or functions of management generally, not the four textbook functions of communication, so options including them are wrong.

Hence the four functions are (a), (c), (d) and (e).
