AEO (Assistant Enforcement Officer) is one of the most sought-after posts because of the respect and power this position commands. The upper age limit to apply for the AEO post is 30 years and lower age limit is 18 years.
AEO post is a group B post and deals with managing financial frauds and scams in India. The job of an AEO is to check whether the following policies are implemented or not:

The main job of an AEO is to assist the top head ED (Enforcement Directorate) in controlling and checking the money laundering activities in India.
The job profile of an AEO can be further classified into 2 categories:
- Desk Job: Here the AEO sits in the office and reviews the documents submitted by various organizations such as reports, presentations and brochures. It also includes responding to official letters, maintaining files, replying to official correspondences, managing intra-departmental communication.
- Field Job: Just like any other field job AEO field job is also difficult in nature, this involves going to raids, and do several day long observations, to identify and raid the premises of the suspect. The main job is to gather intelligence about money laundering or check crimes of economic nature.

Working hours
The AEO officers serving within the office usually have regular 9 to 5 job. However, if one is working on the field, then you need to work in shifts. The timings of field job is flexible and you can be called for duty anytime within the 24 hours. The work hour adjustments are done but that does not mean that all the extra hours will be adjusted. You can have uncertain long working hours.
Transfer
Generally, transfers are done under two circumstances – if there are any allegations against the candidate or the candidate has requested for the transfer. After the transfer, you will not be disturbed for at least 3 years. One is deployed at a particular location for a minimum period of 3 years.
Promotion policy of AEO
Generally, the promotions after joining as an AEO takes place within 3 years. The first two promotions for an AEO is achievable within the first 8-9 years. After this, the next promotion takes some time. All the promotions are managed by the headquarters located at Delhi.
Social Status
The position of power comes with the AEO post. As you start moving up in the hierarchy more respect is earned.

Is AEO job good for women?
A lot of power and respect is associated with the post of AEO, but it gets gradually difficult to work in the field. Also, the working hours are very irregular & hectic and regular transfers make it very difficult to manage for women.
