The correct answer is

Statement I is false but Statement II is true

When atmospheric carbon dioxide (CO₂) increases, more of it dissolves into ocean water, forming carbonic acid (H₂CO₃). This lowers the pH of seawater, a process called ocean acidification. So the oceans become MORE acidic, not less.

Statement I claims that rising CO₂ makes the oceans less acidic. This is scientifically wrong — the reverse happens, so Statement I is false.

Statement II claims that rising CO₂ adversely impacts coral reefs. This is correct: acidification reduces the carbonate ions that corals need to build their calcium-carbonate skeletons, leading to weaker skeletons and coral bleaching. So Statement II is true.
