Question

Two numbers are such that 30% of the first is equal to 45% of the second. What is the ratio of the first to the second?

This question was previously asked in
SSC CHSL 2025 Tier 1 Question Paper (21-Nov-2025) (Shift 1)
The correct answer is

2:3

Let the first number be \(a\) and the second be \(b\). We are told that 30% of the first equals 45% of the second.

Writing this as a relation between the two percentage figures, the numbers stand in the ratio of these percentages.

So \(a : b = 30 : 45\).

Divide both terms by their common factor 15: \(30 : 45 = 2 : 3\).

Thus the first to the second is \(2 : 3\).

The official response sheet marks this option as correct.

Therefore the ratio of the first to the second is 2 : 3.
