NIFT 2021 written exam was held on 14 February 2021 by NIFT, during the pandemic. The paper was held as planned, but the second stage was affected later. How COVID Affected NIFT 2021

NIFT 2021 was affected by the pandemic, which changed the admission timeline rather than the written paper. GAT and CAT were held as planned on 14 February 2021, but the Situation Test for shortlisted B.Des candidates, set for 10 to 13 April 2021, was postponed as the second wave grew. NIFT later announced a revised schedule for the second stage.

● Situation Test set for 10 to 13 April 2021 was postponed due to COVID.

● Design-course GAT still carried no negative marking, as in earlier years.

NIFT 2021 Exam Details

NIFT 2021 followed the standard format, conducted by NIFT and set in English. The table below lists the conducting body, exam date, medium and paper length. Question count changed by programme, and the design courses also took the CAT.

NIFT 2021 GAT Sections

NIFT 2021 GAT had the usual set of sections, and knowing them helps you use the paper well. Design courses took the general aptitude sections, while the technology courses also had a case study. The list below shows what each section covered.

● Quantitative Ability: percentages, ratio and proportion, interest, work and time, and distance.

● Communication Ability and English Comprehension: vocabulary, grammar and reading passages.

● Analytical Ability and Logical Ability: reasoning from given information.

● General Knowledge and Current Affairs: everyday awareness with a design and fashion focus.

● Case Study: an extra section for B.FTech, M.FTech and MFM, with engineering questions added for M.FTech.

How to Use NIFT 2022 Paper

NIFT 2022 question paper is a good early practice set, because design candidates can attempt every question without a penalty. Use it first to build coverage and speed, then move to a year with negative marking to practise careful attempting. Time the GAT to your programme's limit and treat the CAT as a full drawing task.
