The correct answer is

Quasi-one-dimensional structure

Quasi-one-dimensional structure option is correct.

A carbon nanotube can be viewed as a sheet of graphene rolled seamlessly into a cylinder of nanometre diameter and micrometre-scale length. Along the tube axis it is essentially unbounded while its circumference is only a few nanometres, so the geometry is quasi-one-dimensional.

Two structural features combine to give the exceptional mechanical strength: every carbon atom is bonded to three neighbours through strong sp2 covalent bonds (one of the strongest bonds in nature), and the seamless cylindrical topology means load applied along the axis is shared uniformly along all these covalent bonds without weak inter-planar interactions to fail first. Measured Young’s modulus is around \(1\,\text{TPa}\) and tensile strengths reach tens of GPa — orders of magnitude above steel per unit mass.

Planar graphene is 2D and lacks the tubular integrity; the “rolling vector” only fixes the chirality (metallic vs. semiconducting) rather than the strength; and CNTs are not close-packed. The quasi-1D cylindrical structure is what confers the strength.
