The correct answer is

Both Statement I and Statement II are false

Thermal pollution is the rise (or sometimes fall) in the temperature of a water body caused by discharge of heated water from power plants and industries. It reduces dissolved oxygen, disrupts breeding, and can kill temperature-sensitive fish and other aquatic organisms.

Statement I says thermal pollution has no adverse impact on aquatic life. This is false, because it clearly harms aquatic ecosystems by lowering oxygen levels and stressing organisms.

Statement II says aquatic organisms easily adapt to rapid temperature changes. This is also false — most aquatic organisms are ectothermic (cold-blooded) and are very sensitive to sudden temperature shifts, which they cannot quickly adapt to.

The choice calling both statements true ignores the well-documented harm. The choice saying only one of them is true is wrong because neither statement is correct. Hence both statements are false.

Takeaway: Thermal pollution genuinely damages aquatic life, and aquatic organisms cannot easily withstand rapid temperature change — both statements are false.
Correct answer: Both Statement I and Statement II are false
