The correct answer is

Donati

The correct answer is Donati suture, the classical vertical mattress stitch, described as far-far, near-near. The needle takes a deep wide bite through both edges, then re-enters close to the edge on the far side and exits close to the edge on the near side, so the crossing strand and knot lie to one side, away from the wound line, as depicted. It simultaneously obliterates dead space and everts the skin edges, making it ideal for wounds under tension. The Allgower modification keeps the near bite intradermal on one side to avoid cross-hatch marks.

A simple interrupted suture is a single loop through both edges at one level, with no deep second bite or crossing strand. A bare mattress answer is too non-specific, and the horizontal mattress runs parallel to the edge, not in the vertical crossing pattern shown. The Connell suture is a continuous inverting stitch for the inner layer of bowel anastomosis, not for skin or muscle.

Key point: Donati equals vertical mattress equals far-far, near-near, giving the best eversion; Connell and Lembert belong to gut anastomosis.
