The combined number of applications not approved by Branches A, C and F constitutes what fraction of the total applications received by these branches ?

This question was previously asked in
UPSSSC PET 2026 Question Paper (25-Oct-2026) (Shift-2)
The correct answer is

\( \frac{1}{4} \)

Applications not approved = received - approved.

A: \( 480 - 360 = 120 \), C: \( 720 - 540 = 180 \), F: \( 1000 - 750 = 250 \)

Total not approved = \( 120 + 180 + 250 = 550 \); total received = \( 480 + 720 + 1000 = 2200 \)

Fraction = \( \frac{550}{2200} = \frac{1}{4} \). Check: \( 2200 \div 4 = 550 \).

Hence, \( \frac{1}{4} \).
