Direction : Study the following table and answer the questions that follow : Units manufactured and units passing quality inspection at five plants (A, B, C, D and E)Plant Units Manufactured Units Passing Quality Inspection A 600 480 B 750 600 C 800 680 D 900 720 E 950 760 Total 4000 3240
At Plant C, 40 units that initially failed the quality inspection passed after re-inspection. What fraction of the total units manufactured at Plant C was finally passed after quality inspection ?
\( \frac{9}{10} \)
From the table, Plant C manufactured 800 units, of which 680 passed the first inspection.
Units finally passed = \( 680 + 40 = 720 \)
Required fraction = \( \frac{720}{800} = \frac{9}{10} \) (dividing both by 80).
Check: failed at first = \( 800 - 680 = 120 \), finally failed = \( 120 - 40 = 80 \) and \( \frac{80}{800} = \frac{1}{10} \), so passed = \( 1 - \frac{1}{10} = \frac{9}{10} \).
Hence, \( \frac{9}{10} \).
