The coldest region within Earth's atmosphere is the mesopause.
Atmospheric temperatures generally decrease with increasing altitude through the troposphere and stratosphere. This cooling trend reaches its minimum in the upper part of the mesosphere.
The mesopause, situated at the boundary between the mesosphere and the thermosphere, experiences the lowest temperatures recorded in the atmosphere. These temperatures can drop to approximately $-90$ °C ($-130$ °F or $183$ K).
While the thermosphere has extremely high temperatures, these reflect the high kinetic energy of individual particles in the very thin upper atmosphere, not the heat content experienced by objects. The tropopause and stratopause are boundaries where temperature profiles change but do not represent the absolute coldest point.
