The task is to make a presentation run hands-free — each slide advancing on its own at the right moment, in step with the narration and animations. PowerPoint stores a per-slide advance time for exactly this purpose, and the tool used to record those times is Rehearse Timings, found on the Slide Show tab.

How Rehearse Timings works:

1. It launches the slideshow in a special practice mode with a small timing toolbar.

• The dual-monitor speaker mode simply displays your notes, a timer, and next-slide preview to you while the audience sees the slideshow; it still relies on you to advance, and it does not create the timings themselves.
