PQR is a triangle such that QP = QR = 15 cm and PR = 18 cm. PN, QM and RT are the altitudes of the triangle which intersect at O.

What is the ratio of QO to OM?

The correct answer is

7 : 9

From the same coordinates, \(Q=(0,12)\), orthocentre \(O=(0,27/4)\) and \(M=(0,0)\). So \(QO=12-\frac{27}{4}=\frac{21}{4}\) and \(OM=\frac{27}{4}\), giving \(QO:OM=21:27=7:9\).
