Match List - I with List - II.

List - I (computing systems)List - II (working/output)
(A) Half Adder(I) Has n input and 2n output
(B) Decoder(II) CPU Storage Unit
(C) Register(III) Used to store program at runtime
(D) Main memory(IV) 2-bit addition circuit

The correct answer is

(A)-(IV), (B)-(I), (C)-(II), (D)-(III)

Each item in List - I is a basic hardware building block of a computer, and List - II describes what that block does or produces.

(A) Half Adder — a combinational circuit that adds two single bits and produces a sum bit and a carry bit, so it is the 2-bit addition circuit: (A)-(IV).

(B) Decoder — a decoder with n input lines activates exactly one of its \(2^n\) output lines, so it has n input and 2n output: (B)-(I).

(C) Register — a small, fast group of flip-flops inside the processor that holds operands and results, i.e. the CPU storage unit: (C)-(II).

(D) Main memory — the RAM where a program and its data are loaded while the program runs: (D)-(III).

Any code that pairs the half adder with the CPU storage unit, or the decoder with the store for running programs, contradicts these definitions, so the codes beginning (A)-(II) and the code giving (B)-(II) are ruled out.

(A)-(IV), (B)-(I), (C)-(II), (D)-(III) option is correct.
