Overcentralized globalization refers to a system where economic and political power is concentrated in a few dominant regions, often the Global North, leaving the Global South dependent and vulnerable. This asymmetry produces inequality, stifles local development, and weakens voices from developing countries in global governance. It also generates resentment and risks of instability.

A Global South-sensitive model of globalization seeks to redress this imbalance by creating more equitable and inclusive structures. First, it emphasizes fairer trade rules. Developing nations should have opportunities to move beyond raw material exports, protect emerging industries, and gain better access to global markets. Such measures empower local economies and reduce dependency.

Second, regional integration and South-South cooperation are central. Initiatives like BRICS, ASEAN, or African Union projects enhance bargaining power, reduce reliance on Northern economies, and foster development models suited to local contexts.

Third, reforms in global governance institutions like the IMF, WTO, and UN are critical. Enhanced representation for Global South countries would make decision-making more inclusive and legitimate.

Finally, this model prioritizes sustainable and diverse development paths. By valuing indigenous knowledge, environmental sustainability, and localized solutions, it rejects one-size-fits-all prescriptions rooted in Western experience.

Adopting such a model would not only prevent the dangers of centralized control but also produce a fairer, more resilient globalization, enabling the Global South to shape its own future.
