Bringing Green Revolution to Eastern India (BGREI) is a sub-scheme launched in 2010–11 to intensify rice-based cropping systems in seven eastern states — Assam, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, Odisha, eastern Uttar Pradesh and West Bengal.
It was originally launched under the Rashtriya Krishi Vikas Yojana (RKVY) umbrella, and continues to be implemented as a sub-scheme of the Rashtriya Krishi Vikas Yojana. It supports asset building, cluster demonstrations, seed production, water management and site-specific interventions to raise productivity in the region.
The National Mission on Agricultural Extension and Technology and the National Mission for Sustainable Agriculture are separate umbrella missions with different mandates (extension/technology transfer and climate-resilient agriculture respectively). Hence BGREI is a sub-scheme of the Rashtriya Krishi Vikas Yojana.
