UPSSSC PET 2026 Selection Process

Uttar Pradesh PET serves as a qualifying exam for various Group ‘C’ posts under the UP government. It is not a recruitment exam for a particular post but the first stage in a multi-level selection process.

Preliminary Eligibility Test (PET)

  • This is the first level exam conducted by UPSSSC.
  • All candidates who wish to apply for upcoming Group ‘C’ recruitments must clear the PET.
  • The PET score determines shortlisting for post-specific main exams.

Validity of PET Score

  • The PET 2026 score is valid for one year from the date of result declaration.
  • During this period, candidates can apply for main exams of various UPSSSC Group ‘C’ posts as they are announced.

Post-wise Main exam

  • After the PET, UPSSSC will issue separate notifications for specific posts (e.g., Lekhpal, Junior Assistant, Forest Guard).
  • Only candidates who scored above the cut-off in the PET will be eligible to apply for these main exams.
  • The shortlisting will depend on the PET score, reservation norms, and the number of applicants.

Final Selection

  • The final merit list for each post will be prepared based on the main exam score.
  • For some posts, additional stages like physical tests, skill tests, or interviews may also be included as per the respective post's recruitment rules.

Important Notes

  • Appearing for PET does not guarantee selection. It only qualifies a candidate to apply for specific Group ‘C’ post-recruitments.
  • Candidates are advised to regularly check UPSSSC website for post-wise recruitment notifications after the PET result.
