Question

20 women can do work in 16 days. 10 men can complete the same work in 12 days. What is the ratio between the efficiency of a man and a woman?

This question was previously asked in
SSC CGL 2025 Tier 1 Question Paper (25-Sep-2025) (Shift 3)
The correct answer is

8:3

The total work can be measured in units using either group: 20 women working for 16 days give \(20 \times 16 = 320\) woman-days of work.

Similarly, 10 men working for 12 days give \(10 \times 12 = 120\) man-days of work.

Since both equal the same total work, \(320 \times (\text{1 woman's work}) = 120 \times (\text{1 man's work})\).

So the ratio of a man's efficiency to a woman's efficiency is \(\frac{320}{120} = \frac{8}{3}\).

Hence, the answer is 8:3.
