Question

A man completes 7/8 of a job in 21 days. How many more days will it take him to finish the job if quantum of work further increased by 50%?

The correct answer is

15

Given;

Time taken to complete 7/8 of a job = 21 days

Quantum of work further increased by 50%

Calculation:

Time required to complete the job =  \(\frac {21}{7/8} \)  = 24 days

So time taken by the man to complete 50% work, t 1= 24/2 = 12 days

Also, remaining work after 21 days = 1 - 7/8 = 1/8 and

time required to complete 1/8 of the job, t 2= Time required to complete whole work - time taken to complete 7/8 of the job i.e.

= 24 - 21 = 3 days

Now the number of days required = t 1 + t 2

= 12 + 3 = 15days

Hence, option 4 is correct.
