UPSC CDS I 2020 Result has been declared on March 23, 2020. The result is announced in the PDF format at the official website upsc.gov.in. As per the result, the roll number of qualified candidates are mentioned in the list. Candidates will be selected on the basis of their performance in CDS I 2020 written test and SSB Interview. Candidates who have successfully qualified in the written exam need to register themselves online on the Indian Army Recruiting website joinindianarmy.nic.in within two weeks of announcement of written results. After that, you will be allotted with Selection Centres and dates of SSB interview. How to Check CDS 2020 Result?

The result of CDS 1 has been declared. Steps to check CDS Result are mentioned below:

Step 1: Visit the official website of UPSC i.e. upsc.gov.in.

Step 2: Click on ‘Examination’ tab and navigate to ‘Active Examination’ Section.

Step 3: Go to Combined Defence Services Examination.

Step 4: You will find a PDF file for written test result.

Step 5: Download it and locate your roll number with keyboard shortcut- Ctrl + F.

Step 6: Take a print out of the same for future reference. 

Note: Chances are that candidates might face the issue of server down as there would be many applicants who would be checking their respective results at the same time. This will create a massive overload on their server. They can check their results at ease after some hours when the issue is completely resolved.

The marksheet for CDS 2020 will be available on the official website of UPSC i.e. upsc.gov.in. after the announcement of result. CDS I 2020 Marksheet will be available for a limited period of time (approximately 1 month). Following steps must be followed to obtain CDS 2020 Marksheet:

CDS 2020 Cutoff

The selection of candidates is subject to various criteria. For selection to IMA, INA, AFA and OTA, candidates must qualify the minimum cut off marks set by the governing body, i.e., UPSC. Minimum of 20% score in each section is the basic cut off to qualify for CDS 2020 and an overall score in written exam is around 110 marks. Those who fit in to this range will be called for CDS SSB Interview.

IMA (Indian Military Academy) and INA (Indian Naval Academy) cutoffs are expected to remain around 110 while for AFA cutoff score may go up to 140 this year. The CDS Cut off of written exam will be announced by UPSC after the recruitment process is over. Check below expected cutoff of CDS 1 written exam.

UPSC CDS I Results 2019 was declared by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) on its official website – upsc.gov.in. Parvesh Kumar has topped the Indian Military Academy. Likewise Hitesh Yadav has topped Indian Naval Academy and Tejas Mohlah has topped Air Force Academy. CDS Cut off for written exam and final result is decided by UPSC. On the basis of performance in CDS and SSB Tests, the candidates are provided admission in the preferred course. 

  • A total of 129 candidates have qualified for admissions to the 145th course of Indian Military Academy – IMA, Dehradun; Indian Naval Academy – INA, Ezhimala, and Air Force Academy – AFA, Hyderabad, however as the document verification is still under process at the Army Headquarters, these results are provisional.
  • As per the Results notification, on the basis of written examination UPSC had recommended 3701, 2248 and 914 candidates respectively for Indian Military Academy, Indian Naval Academy and Air Force Academy; out of which 129 candidates have made it to the Final Recommendation list of 82 for Indian Military Academy; 44 for Indian Naval Academy, and 3 for Air Force Academy, after the SSB Interviews.

The candidates whose roll numbers are displayed in the CDS 2020 Result list will be called for the further selection process, i.e. CDS SSB. The dates for SSB Interview will be notified later and final result will be out few days after the completion of this 5-days procedure.

What after CDS 2020 Result?

Candidates who have score qualifying marks in the written CDS exam will need to appear for SSB Tests/ Interview. The candidates are required to get the prescribed set of documents for the CDS IInterview conducted by Service Selection Board. The final result is declared on the basis of the candidate's performance in the written exam and SSB Tests/ Interview. The SSB interview lasts for 5 days during which, a candidate undergoes various physical and psychological test which determines if a candidate is fit to be an officer.

Day-wise Description of SSB Tests 

  • The SSB Interview will be conducted over a period of five days.
  • SSB procedure is a two stage selection process. Only candidates who clear Stage I will be allowed to appear for Stage II.
  • Stage I comprises Officer Intelligence Rating (OIR) tests and Picture Perception & Description Test (PP&DT). Candidates will be shortlisted for next stage based on performance in OIR Test and PP&DT.
  • Stage II consists of Interview, Group Testing Officer Tasks, Psychology Test and Conference. 
  • On the day two of the SSB Interview, candidates will be divided into groups of 8-10 and will be given different chest numbers. Psychological tests will be conducted on day two. 
  • Candidates after psychological test are required to appear for the personal interview on day three and four in front of the interviewing officer. Group testing is usually done on day three by the group testing officer.  The candidates will be informed of outdoor tests before hand. There are nine tests which the candidates will have to clear. 
  • The tests on day four will begin with individual obstacle race.  An individual is expected to clear a set of 10 obstacles within 3 minutes.
  • On day five the candidates are required to appear for a conference which will be conducted by the SSB Board.
  • Candidates will be given a closing address on Day 5 by the deputy president of the board. Candidates will also be able to clear their doubts and queries.

Combined Defense Services (CDS) Selection Procedure

  1. Written Examination: The candidates who filled the applications forms before the last notified date appeared for CDS written examination on February 4, 2020. CDS (I) written exam is a objective type paper held in pen and paper mode. The candidates who have qualified the written examination will now appear for Interview/ Intelligence Test/ Personality Test, the second stage of CDS Selection Procedure.
  2. Interview/ Intelligence Test/ Personality Test: The candidates who have qualified the written examination will be interviewed by Service Selection Board based on their preferences of HQs. The candidates will have to undergo five-day testing procedure at the respective SSB centres. The candidates who will be selected by the officials in the interview round shall further be called up for their document verification.
  3. Document Verification: Documents of selected candidates like their mark sheets, graduation degree, age proof and other certificates and requisite documents are verified by the officials. If the documents are not authentic or complete then such candidates can be disqualified by the officials. Final selection of candidates will be made if they are found to medically fit.
