SSC Stenographer Eligibility Criteria 2026
SSC Stenographer Eligibility 2026 is based on nationality, age limit, and educational qualification. Candidates must meet SSC Stenographer 2026 eligibility criteria and possess the required stenography skills to appear for the exam and Skill Test.
SSC Stenographer Nationality
A candidate must be either:
- A citizen of India, or
- A subject of Nepal or Bhutan, or
- A person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Myanmar, Sri Lanka, East African countries including Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia and Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India.
Candidates other than Indian citizens must possess a certificate of eligibility issued by the Government of India.

- Candidates must have passed Class 12 or an equivalent examination from a recognised board or university.
- Candidates awaiting their Class 12 result were not eligible unless they could produce proof of having passed the qualifying examination by the prescribed cutoff date.
- Candidates must also possess the required stenography skills and qualify the Skill Test as per the prescribed standards.

SSC Stenographer 2026 application process was completely online. Candidates first registered on the SSC website and then filled out SSC Stenographer 2026 Application Form, uploaded the required details and documents, and paid the application fee.

SSC Stenographer Cut Off 2026
SSC Stenographer Cut Off 2025 represents the minimum marks required to qualify for the next stage of the selection process. SSC declared the Computer-Based Examination result on November 28, 2025. A total of 8,624 candidates qualified for the Grade C Skill Test and 22,456 candidates qualified for the Grade D Skill Test.
The minimum qualifying marks in the Computer-Based Examination were 30% for UR candidates, 25% for OBC and EWS candidates, and 20% for other categories. The Grade C CBE cutoffs included 135.44087 for SC, 120.37748 for ST, 141.77465 for OBC, 137.83071 for EWS and 142.42577 for UR.
SSC later released the final selection and allocation details after the Skill Test, option-cum-preference and revised allocation process.

A total of 8,624 candidates qualified for the Grade C Skill Test and 22,456 candidates qualified for the Grade D Skill Test. The Stenography Skill Test was conducted on January 28 and 29, 2026.
After the Skill Test, candidates were required to submit their option-cum-preference for posts and departments from May 5 to May 8, 2026. SSC then conducted the First Round of Tentative Allocation under the Sliding Mechanism. The initial allocation was withheld on June 19, 2026 after representations regarding the evaluation of the Stenography Skill Test.
SSC released the Revised First Round of Tentative Allocation on July 31, 2026. The final merit list was released on August 25, 2026. A total of 232 candidates were recommended for Grade C and 1,483 candidates were recommended for Grade D. SSC also uploaded the CBE and Skill Test marks on October 7, 2026.
