SSC Stenographer Exam Pattern is outlined in the official SSC Stenographer notification; however, the marking scheme has recently undergone revisions. SSC has issued a corrigendum notice concerning negative marking for the Stenographer Grade C and D Exam 2026. SSC Stenographer Exam now includes a penalty of 0.25 marks for each incorrect answer. According to the SSC Stenographer exam pattern, the examination consists of two stages, both conducted online. Only candidates who pass the first stage will be eligible to advance to the second stage of the exam. SSC Stenographer Skill Test Exam Pattern

After qualifying the Preliminary examination, candidates need to go through a skill test to get selected for the post. The skill test/stenography test will be organized at various sub-regional offices or at some other centers. Candidates who qualify the preliminary exam and are eligible for the skill test, will be given one dictation for the time period of 10 minutes in Hindi as well as English with a minimum speed of 100 words per minute for the stenographer grade C posts while for Grade D the minimum speed would be 80 words per minute.
