SSC JE 2020 contains two Papers – Paper 1 and Paper 2. Paper 1 is an objective type test conducted in online mode whereas Paper 2 is a descriptive exam conducted in offline mode. The weightage of marks is also different in both papers i.e Paper 1 is of 200 marks and Paper 2 is of 300 marks. There is a negative marking of 0.25 marks for each incorrect answer applicable in Paper 1 only.
The SSC JE 2020 paper I exam will be conducted from 27 to 30 October 2020 and on 11 December 2020 (only for Bihar applicants). On the other hand, the SSC JE Paper-II exam will be conducted on 21 March 2021.

SSC JE Paper 1 consists of 200 questions to be attempted in a duration of 2 hours. The paper is divided into 3 sections – General Intelligence, General Awareness and General Engineering (Civil/ Mechanical/ Electrical). Candidates are allowed to bring their own Slide–Rule, Calculator, Logarithm Table and Steam Table for Paper-II. Moreover, there is no negative marking applicable in Paper-2.

In case of Paper 2 there is no negative marking because this paper is descriptive type with a total of 300 marks and time duartion provided to complete this paper is 2 hours.
