Based on the current rules, the aspirants first have to meet the age and citizenship criteria and the academic requirements before applying for the SSC JE exam 2021. More specifically, the SSC JE Eligibility criteria is dependent upon three factors and these are educational qualification, age limit & age relaxation, and nationality. 

  • The age criteria are different for different posts for which the exam is conducted. Also, there are certain rules for fulfilling the citizenship criteria to take this exam.

Please Note:

  • Before applying, applicants must note that the Date of Birth as mentioned in the 10th class or Secondary Examination Certificate or any other similar certificate only will be accepted by the authorities. No subsequent request will be entertained for its change.
  • Aspirants must check the age limit for various posts under the SSC JE exam 2021 as well and apply to the posts accordingly.

The Age Limit Relaxation for various reserved categories are mentioned below:

Defence Personnel who are disabled during any operation against any foreign nation or in a disturbed area and released thereof due to this. General or OBC (3 Years)

JE Nationality

SSC JE Eligibility 2021: Nationality / Citizenship

A candidate must be either of the following:

  • A citizen of India, or a subject of Bhutan, or subject of Nepal.
  • A Tibetan refugee who shifted to India before the 1st January 1962 to settle permanently.
  • An Indian-origin candidate who has migrated from countries like - Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania, Sri Lanka, Pakistan, Burma, East African Countries of Kenya, Zambia, Zaire, Ethiopia, Malawi, and Vietnam to settle permanently in India.

Ques. What is the minimum SSC JE 2021 eligibility criteria and application fee?

Ans. Candidates must possess an Engineering degree or Diploma to be eligible for SSC JE 2021 exam. The SSC JE application fee 100 INR.

Ques. Will I be eligible for the SSC JE exam in case I am a citizen of the United States of America?

Ans. You will have to comply with Citizenship Norms as mentioned above with an intention to settle in India permanently. Otherwise you are not eligible.

Ques. Is a working experience a necessity for the SSC JE 2021exam?

Ans. A relevant work experience will always work wonders. But experience is generally required for diploma holders for certain posts.

Ques. I have a degree in Energy and Environmental Engineering from a well known University, am I eligible for the SSC JE exam?

Ans. We regret to inform you that you are not eligible in this case. Only if you have a degree in Mechanical, Chemical & Civil Engineering, you are eligible for SSC JE 2021 exam.

Ques. Can a Final Year BTech student apply?

Ans. Yes, a final year BTech student can apply.

Hi. Candidates planning to apply to this post must have a 3 years Diploma in Civil engineering from a recognized University/ Institute/ Board or equivalent; or they must have passed Intermediate examination in Buildings and Quantity Surveying Sub-Division-II of the Institute of Surveyors (India).

I am a Tibetan refugee got shifted to India in 1965, can I apply for the SSC JE exam?

Hi. Yes, any Tibetan refugee who got shifted to India before the 1st January 1962 to settle permanently are allowed to apply for the exam. Candidates must check the age limit for different posts under the SSC JE exam 2021 as well and apply to the posts accordingly.
