(i) Meat refuser

(ii) Meat eater

(iii) Murderer

(iv) Loving person

TNPSC Group 2 2026 Prelims Question Paper (01-Nov-2026)
The correct answer is

(i) and (iv)

The idea comes from the Thirukkural chapter Pulal Maruththal (abstaining from meat), Kural 260: Kollaan pulaalai maruththaanaik kaikooppi ellaa uyirum thozhum (all living beings join their hands and worship the one who does not kill and refuses meat).

The couplet says that all living beings join their hands and worship the person who does not kill and who refuses meat, so the meat refuser is the person Valluvar praises.

Throughout the chapter Valluvar links the refusal of meat to arul, the compassion and love a person feels for every living being; the one honoured is therefore the loving, compassionate person who will not take life for food.

The meat eater and the murderer are the very people the chapter condemns, and choosing the loving person alone leaves out the meat refuser named in the couplet itself.

(i) and (iv) option is correct.
