SSC CGL 2017 (Tier 1) Previous Year Paper (16-Aug-2017) (Shift 1)
The correct answer is

Lord Canning

The Government of India Act 1858, passed after the Revolt of 1857, transferred power from the East India Company to the British Crown and restyled the Governor-General as the Viceroy, the direct representative of the Crown.

Lord Canning, who was Governor-General in 1858, thus became the first Viceroy of India (and the last Governor-General under Company rule).

Lord Curzon (1899-1905), Lord Wavell (1943-47) and Lord Mountbatten (1947, the last Viceroy) all served much later.
