The Military General, who suppressed the Vellore Mutiny was __________
Colonel Robert Rollo Gillespie
The Vellore Mutiny broke out on 10 July 1806 when Indian sepoys in the Vellore Fort rose against new dress regulations (turban, removal of caste marks and earrings) and killed many British officers and soldiers.
Colonel Robert Rollo Gillespie, commanding the 19th Light Dragoons at Arcot, rode to Vellore with cavalry and galloper guns, blew open the gate and crushed the revolt within a few hours, followed by severe reprisals.
George Carmichael Smyth, John Nicholson and William Hodson are associated with the revolt of 1857 (Meerut and Delhi), not with the events at Vellore in 1806.
Hence, Colonel Robert Rollo Gillespie.
