UGC NET 2015 Paper 1 Question Paper (27-Dec-2015)
The correct answer is

Free-float market capitalisation

A stock index weights each constituent company by some measure of size. Indian indices originally used full market capitalisation (all shares outstanding × market price).

BSE SENSEX moved to the free-float method in September 2003 and NSE NIFTY 50 in June 2009. Free-float market capitalisation counts only shares readily available for trading, excluding promoter holdings, government stakes and other locked-in shares.

Full market capitalisation is no longer the basis, and paid up or authorised share capital are book or legal capital figures that do not reflect market value, so they are never used to compute these indices.

Hence, the answer is Free-float market capitalisation.
