Question

ADRs’ and GDRs’ are an excellent means of investment to invest in India for

This question was previously asked in
UGC NET 2014 Paper 1 Question Paper (28-Dec-2014)
The correct answer is

Both (A) & (B)

American Depository Receipts (ADRs) and Global Depository Receipts (GDRs) are issued abroad against shares of Indian companies and are traded on overseas exchanges in foreign currency. They let investors outside India hold Indian equity without dealing with the Indian market, registration or the rupee directly.

Foreign nationals are the main target of these instruments, since ADRs and GDRs give them easy access to Indian companies on familiar exchanges.

Non-Resident Indians are also permitted to invest in ADRs and GDRs, which offers them a convenient foreign-currency route into Indian companies. So the instruments serve both classes of investors, and neither can be excluded.

Hence, Both (A) & (B).
