In a certain code language, ‘A + B’ means ‘A is the mother of B’; ‘A – B’ means ‘A is the brother of B’; ‘A × B’ means ‘A is the wife of B’ and ‘A ÷ B’ means ‘A is the father of B’. Based on the above, if M + Q – R × K – Y, then how is M related to Y?

Mother-in-law of Y's brother

Decode the relations step by step using the given symbols:

M + Q: M is the mother of Q.

Q - R: Q is the brother of R, so R is also a child of M (R is M's daughter, since R is female — see next step).

R × K: R is the wife of K, so K is M's son-in-law.

K - Y: K is the brother of Y, so Y is the brother of M's son-in-law.
