SSC CPO 2025 Paper 1 Question Paper (9-Dec-2025) (Shift 2)
The correct answer is

4.4 km

Chandrayaan-3's Vikram lander touched down near the lunar south pole on 23 August 2023, and the Pragyan rover explored the site. Analysis of rover data and images by scientists of the Physical Research Laboratory (PRL), Ahmedabad, published in 2024, revealed an ancient crater about 160 km wide buried beneath the landing region.

The crater is believed to be older than the nearby South Pole-Aitken basin and lies buried under thick layers of ejecta deposited by later impacts, which is why it is not visible on the surface.

As per the official key, the depth of this buried crater is taken as approximately 4.4 km.

Hence, the depth of the buried crater discovered by Chandrayaan-3 is approximately 4.4 km.
