UPSC CSE 2022 (Prelims) CSAT Previous Year Paper (05-June-2022)
  • The India Meteorological Department (IMD) uses a colour-coded warning system to help people quickly understand the threat level of cyclones and act accordingly. The system has four colours, each showing how serious the situation is.
  • Green (All is well): Normal weather, no cyclone threat, and no action needed.
Yellow (Be aware): A cyclonic disturbance is forming and could affect the area. It’s a reminder to stay updated on the weather.
Orange (Be prepared): The cyclone is likely to cause major disruptions, such as damage to property and power lines. People should get ready for possible evacuation, and authorities must be on high alert.
Red (Take action): The highest warning level, issued when a powerful cyclone is about to strike. It calls for immediate action, including evacuations and stopping transport, to protect lives and property.
  • This simple system ensures timely preparation and saves lives.
