The correct answer is

Both (A) and (R) are true and (R) is the correct explanation of (A)

Assertion (A): Sarvodaya, the Gandhian ideal of the welfare of all (developed by Gandhi after Ruskin's 'Unto This Last' and later by Vinoba Bhave), rests on truth, non-violence and faith in the basic goodness of human beings. (A) is true.

Reason (R): The first principle Gandhi drew from Ruskin is that the good of the individual is contained in the good of all. (R) is true.

Because individual good is inseparable from the good of all, Sarvodaya seeks the uplift of everyone through truthful and non-violent means rather than conflict, so (R) correctly explains (A).

Hence, the answer is: Both (A) and (R) are true and (R) is the correct explanation of (A).
