Abscisic acid responsive elements (ABREs) are over-represented in promoter of genes involved in ............
Drought stress
Abscisic acid (ABA) is the principal plant hormone that accumulates in response to dehydration, high salinity and cold. ABA responsive elements (ABREs) carry the core PyACGTGG/TC motif recognised by bZIP transcription factors of the AREB/ABF family.
Genome-wide promoter analyses show that ABREs are significantly over-represented in the promoters of dehydration and osmotic stress inducible genes such as RD29B, RAB18 and LEA-type genes, linking the motif to drought stress signalling rather than biotic stress, nitrogen fixation or flowering.
Hence, ABREs are over-represented in promoters of genes involved in Drought stress.
