Question

\(20xy - 4xz + 10y - 2z\) is equal to:

This question was previously asked in
CTET 2022 Paper 2 Maths Question Paper (Jan-27-2023) (Eng-Hin-Skt)
The correct answer is

\(2(5y-z)(2x+1)\)

Grouping the terms, \(20xy - 4xz + 10y - 2z = (20xy + 10y) - (4xz + 2z)\).

Taking out common factors from each group, \(10y(2x+1) - 2z(2x+1)\).

Taking \((2x+1)\) common, this becomes \((2x+1)(10y-2z) = 2(2x+1)(5y-z)\).

Hence, \(20xy - 4xz + 10y - 2z\) is equal to \(2(5y-z)(2x+1)\).
