Candidates can calculate their estimated General English marks by comparing their responses with the TNPSC Group 2 Answer Key 2026. Each correct answer carries 1.5 marks, and there is no deduction for an incorrect answer. However, 0.5 marks may be deducted for each question where no response bubble is shaded on the OMR sheet. Candidates should shade Option E when they do not know the answer, as prescribed in the examination instructions.
Estimated General English Score = Number of Correct Answers × 1.5 − Applicable Blank-Response Penalty
For example, if a candidate answers 80 General English questions correctly, 15 incorrectly, and marks Option E for the remaining 5 questions, the estimated section score will be 120 out of 150 marks.
TNPSC Group 2 Prelims 2026 cutoff marks will be determined based on the overall examination difficulty level, candidate performance, number of vacancies, and category-wise competition. The General English section carried 150 marks, representing 50% of the total preliminary examination score.
TNPSC does not prescribe a separate qualifying cutoff for General English. The minimum qualifying score for the complete preliminary examination is 90 out of 300 marks for all communities. However, candidates generally need to score higher than the minimum qualifying marks to be shortlisted for the Main Examination.
The expected TNPSC Group 2 Prelims 2026 cutoff will be updated based on the actual difficulty level and candidate feedback from the November 1 examination. The official category-wise cutoff will be determined by TNPSC during the selection process.
