Connect the given single word with another single word given in the choices to make two Compound words : Fire, Bon

TNPSC Group 2 2026 Prelims Question Paper (01-Nov-2026)
The correct answer is

Man, Fire

A compound word is formed by joining two words into one new word. Here the first word of a choice must join ‘Fire’ and the second word must join ‘Bon’.

Step 1 — ‘Fire’ + ‘man’ = ‘fireman’, a person who puts out fires — a standard compound word.

Step 2 — ‘Bon’ + ‘fire’ = ‘bonfire’, a large outdoor fire — also a standard compound word.

‘Cook, Stove’ gives ‘firecook’ and ‘bonstove’, neither of which is a word. ‘Flame, Matches’ gives ‘fireflame’ and ‘bonmatches’, not words. ‘Stick, Fire’ gives ‘bonfire’ for the second word, but ‘firestick’ is not a standard everyday compound like ‘fireman’, so the pair does not form two common compound words.

Man, Fire option is correct.
